How to Calculate Exact Age
Calculating exact age sounds simple — subtract the birth year from the current year — but the precise calculation is more complex. Our calculator uses the most accurate method:
- Years: Start with the difference in birth and calculation years.
- Adjust for month: If the current month is earlier than the birth month, subtract 1 from years (the birthday hasn't occurred yet this year).
- Adjust for day: If the current day is earlier than the birthday in the current month, the birthday hasn't occurred yet — adjust accordingly.
- Calculate remaining months: The months component is calculated after adjusting for day borrowing from the previous month.
- Calculate remaining days: Days remaining after complete months are counted.
Example: Born 15 August 1995, today 19 May 2026. Years = 2026 - 1995 = 31. But August (8) hasn't come yet in May (5), so subtract 1 year: 30 years. Months from August to May = 9 months. Days from 15th to 19th = 4 days. Exact age: 30 years, 9 months, 4 days.

The total count of days, weeks, and hours you have been alive is simply the difference between today and your birth date in those units:
- Total Days: (Today − Birth Date) in milliseconds ÷ 86,400,000 (ms per day)
- Total Weeks: Total Days ÷ 7

- Total Hours: Total Days × 24

What is the minimum age for driving in India?
